Steering and track bars for trail trucks

On a solid-axle Ram, the track bar keeps the axle centered and the steering linkage takes every rock the tires hit. They are the first parts to upgrade on a trail truck.

Track bars

An adjustable track bar re-centers the axle after a lift. Worn track bar ends are among the first things checked when chasing wander or death wobble. Options: 2nd gen HD (lifted), 2nd gen extreme duty, 2014-2018 track bar, 4.5 gen upgrade kit, and all track bars.

Heavier linkage resists bending on rocks. See the crossover steering kit, HD bolt-in steering kit, 2nd gen HD kit and 4.5/5th gen linkage.

Box brace and stabilizer

A 2nd gen or 3rd gen steering brace ties the box to the far frame rail. A stabilizer damps kickback but does not fix worn parts.

Death wobble

DrivingLine and MotorTrend both point to worn or loose steering and track bar parts as the usual causes of death wobble on solid-axle trucks. For symptom-by-symptom help, see our sister site's steering symptom guides.

After the work

Get an alignment after any steering, arm or track bar change. Dodge Off Road also sells an alignment plate tool.
