Where can I legally off-road in the Ozarks?
Only on designated routes and areas: national forest OHV trail systems and roads shown on the Motor Vehicle Use Map, state park ORV areas such as St. Joe, and private ORV parks with permission. See where to ride.
Do you rate trail difficulty?
No. We do not invent ratings or distances. Where an official page describes difficulty or length, we quote or paraphrase it and link to it.
Is this site run by the Forest Service or a park?
No. It is an independent guide from the Dodge Off Road crew, not affiliated with any agency or park.
Does Dodge Off Road sell recovery gear?
Dodge Off Road builds suspension and steering for Ram trucks. Store links appear mainly in the truck prep chapter.
Can I take my full-size truck on Ozark National Forest OHV trails?
The Forest Service pages for these trail systems list ATV and OHV riding, not full-size trucks. Trucks can use national forest roads shown open to them on the current Motor Vehicle Use Map, and some private parks and St. Joe State Park's tailings area allow 4x4s.
Is it legal to drive off forest roads in the national forest?
No. Cross-country motor vehicle travel is prohibited; use only routes designated on the Motor Vehicle Use Map.
